That didn't take long...

Less than one year after they were put head to head against Rush Limbaugh(KTLK) and Dennis Prager(WWTC) in the noon/lunch time slot, Mark O'Connell and Ron Rosenbaum are leaving KSTP. They give their goodbyes here.

I won't miss them. Yes, I mean that in a mean way.

those guys either bored me or frustrated me. I rarely found them interesting, until today when I heard them reminiscing.

Rosenbaum is a devil's advocate by nature and occupation and O'Connel is the biggest squish of an Irish Catholic this side of Dublin (or the St. Paul City Hall).

They should jsut let Bob ramble for two more hours. Davis is really coming into his own in my opinion and has proved himself worthy in any time slot.

Why did they leave? was it a) of the Twins coming to their station, b) station managers got bored of circuituous crappy arugments, c) they are going to Air America or WCCO where they belong.

O'Connell is a true jerk. Never email him about anything. He was overly sensitive and spiteful. Maybe he's a nice guy in person or "when you get to know him."

You're right on Bob, the man has talent.

I haven't heard any "insider" details, but...

It was obvious that management didn't care too much for Ron and Mark when they pitted them against Limbaugh and Prager. There was no way their numbers would be acceptable. Lewis will probably do well against Hugh Hewitt and Mischke, Davis will survive Laura Ingraham. Soucheray has nothing to worry about. Mark and Ron however were going to get massacred. They migrated from morning drive time to cannon fodder.

From the language used in the announcement I think it's obvious they were fired.

do you mind adding context to your "I don't like O'Connel" comment? You can't burn bridges you didn't build, so let's hear it...

Yeah, I don't want to get into it. I was interviewed on his show, then I sent a few emails back and forth with him. Later on, I tried to set up a forum with him in it. Just the tone of his emails and the things he said in them made me cringe. He struck me as very petty.

You should be in bed Hank.

and then the last, obvious question which may require an ambiguous answer is: what will happen to the time slot. I like the Hubbards. I like how they operate their media business and I like the fact that thay are willing to take on Clear Channel in this market. I want to see them do well. How can they survive outside of Souch? In your opinion, of course.

Let me know when I've reached my "comment" limit.

They're putting "Sterling" into the time slot. I think "Sterling" was the guy recently sitting in for Mischke. According to MBerg, "Sterling" isn't very good.

They sure didn't like it when I called in and told them (during their tirade against the War in Iraq) that they'd complain even if Bush invaded the Sudan (which I pray he does). I really touched a nerve with those two boors.

And they cut me off another time when I was explaining that tobacco delays senility, while marijuana increases it.

KSTP used to call them "smart-alecks"...they certainly were complete obnoxious jerks.

I am Ron Rosenbaum's "Texas Friend" and he was truly great until they paired him with someone who simply couldn't keep his mouth shut and hogged the whole show, while being so opinionated that what anyone else said either meant nothing or was cut off at the knees by hanging up. Ron Rosenbaum is funny and intelligent....leaving room for the views of others....I wanted to do a show called "A Texan's View" on their channel.....Ron has always been supportive of me and answered my emails and I have found him to be genuine and interesting. Good riddance. Here is a summary of each and every Ron and Mark show...

"Trust the government? You can't trust the government. I'm waiting for some conservatives to call in and defend this."

The only difference from day to day was the "this" changed. Boring and predictable with no information to offer.

The only exceptions were the post 9-11 shows and whenever they focused on purely legal issues, such as various high profile trials.
