Liveblogging Captain Ed Event:

This is cool, not only am I liveblogging an event with CAPTAIN ED, but I'm also using his laptop.

I AM USING ED'S LAPTOP!

I can never wash my hands again.

Okay, I'll wash my hands.

I'm on "The Mistress" (the name of his laptop)

Ed is talking about blogs and the new media. He's discussing why he blogs, he loves to write, that's the big reason.

7:15

Big issue Ed has with regular media is the gatekeepers, the editors. He has objections to having his work hacked up. (I can so sympathize).

Ed is wearing a nice suit. Having seen him do his show, he should dress better more often. I shouldn't judge, I do Race the the Right in sweats.

Blogswarms....are awesome.

"without accountability, corruption ensues in any organization, our media outlets have had no accountablity in recent years"
-Ed

The discussion is now focusing on the Swift Boat Vets issue last election year. At first Ed was critical of the Swift Boat Vets, later he changed his mind as facts came to bear.

7:20

Is there any etiquette to liveblogging? I mean, this laptop is not loud, but occasionally Ed looks over at me with a look in his eyes like I'm holding hands with his wife or something.

[Other bloggers in attendence, Gilles from DogParkWalker, Solem from Peace in our Time, and Newman from RightWingWacko; the Fraters guys aren't here, and Ed is very disappointed in you guys...]

[I hope Ed doesn't like blackball me after reading this post...]

He's going into detail about the Swift Boat Vets allegations. I think it's obvious that Kerry has taken great literary license with his Vietnam War record.

The Swift Boat Vets is important because it showed that the Blogosphere did not need any MSM coverage to make a difference in events at the national level.

7:30

Ed has an easy way about him, a good voice and good tone. He should become a good speaker, as long as he eventually reduces his need for notes.

Captain Ed actually offered me a chance to liveblog the event ON HIS BLOG, but I freaked out. I'll leave my poor grammar and spelling errors on my blog, thanks.

You can never go wrong mentioning "Baghdad Bob" in a speech.

Eason Jordan is now of interest, Jordan made accusations that it was military policy to shoot journalists. It never was, a it's a good thing too, the death penalty should not be applied for sedition, only treason, and MSM is only guilty of sedition.

Jordan was the greatest event so far in the short history of blogging, and shows the great potential of the blogosphere as well.

7:40

[This is another great event brought to you by CFACT, they're the ones that brought in Jonah Goldberg earlier this year.]

There's another look from Ed again....

Alright, he's grilling into various MSM members, YES!

"What happened to reporting news that's verified?"
-Captain Ed

See, I want to start trying to be funny, a la Eckernet, but I don't think I could pull it off as well as he could.

Great, my cell phone went off, now Ed looks like he's going throw an eraser at me. He won't, he might hit "Mistress"

Note to self, burn cell phone.

7:45

"Canadian politics? bah, where's the sports page?"
-Ed

Of course, after he says that, he immediately makes the case for caring about Canadians. Personally, I say what happens in Canadia, should stay in Canadia.

[what's the proper length for a Liveblog post? When should I stop? He's got a lot of good stuff. What is the essence of the liveblog post? What is its purpose? Why do people not shoot Philosophy students more often?]

Adscam....meh....

Raw market power to get the MSM to behave, that's what he's looking for in the blogosphere.

And he ends on that note. 50 minute speech. I give him, on a 5 point scale (1 being an inebriated and armed Jonah Goldberg, and 5 being a sober and well fed Jonah Goldberg, I give him a 3.5

I'm going to try to get an audio interview with him later, stay tuned.

[By the way, Ed, thanks for letting me use your laptop, now if he'd just give me a good job lead...]

Good report.... Kennedy v Machine have an interview with Hoplin:

I suggested on their comments that if Hoplin really had balls, he'd interview with you.
